Worker Roles in My Cafe

Named worker catalogs may still be unfinished in early development, but roles are already clear from the official loop. This page expands the archetypes on the Workers Hub so you hire with intent before opening the Tier List.

Role 1 — Drink keeper (S-tier home)

Primary barista / server who clears drink tickets. This role owns your first Enchant Tokens and most cash upgrades. If this seat is weak, nothing else matters. Deep how-to: Hire & Upgrade and Enchant Workers.

Role 2 — Rush backup (A-tier)

Second pair of hands for peak arrivals. Hire after the keeper has real upgrades. Backup prevents specials from leaving while you finish an ordinary drink (Special Customers).

Role 3 — Pastry / secondary lane (B-tier)

After Customization + Pastries, someone must cover pastry tickets without stripping the drink lane. Staff this role only when drinks are stable (Pastries & Customization).

Role 4 — Flex / temp

Tutorial fillers or emergency clicks. Never enchant them. Replace freely when a better keeper appears.

Five-player servers do not replace your plot’s workers. Friends can help click, but your keeper progression remains personal.

2. Did pastry demand steal the keeper?
3. Did a patch rename panels on Updates?
4. Do you still have a token buffer?

Role conflicts during the pastries update

The biggest staffing mistake after Customization + Pastries is forcing the drink keeper to cover pastry tickets “just for a minute.” Minutes become entire rushes. Split roles early even if the pastry worker is underleveled — a weak pastry helper still protects S-tier interrupt readiness for specials.

Promotion path example

Temp → rush backup → drink keeper is a healthy path only if you never enchanted the temp. If you enchanted too early, stop spending tokens until a true keeper emerges, then follow Enchant Workers banking rules.

Role checklist before you log off

• Drink keeper upgraded today?
• Backup exists for peaks?
• Pastry coverage assigned if demand exists?
• Token buffer reserved for the keeper?
• Pathing clear after decor?

If any box is unchecked, that is tomorrow’s first task — not a new cosmetic shelf.

Connecting roles to money and controls

Roles fail when the HUD is confusing or cash is misspent. Pair this page with Controls and Make Money. A perfect roster still loses if you cannot see the door or you expand into empty service.

Early-dev honesty

SeydoLiszt may rename or restat workers. Archetypes survive renames; screenshots of yesterday’s UI may not. Prefer role logic over brittle name lists until the roster is frozen in a later update note on Updates.
